The Amazing Ag Dinner

The ROCIA’s Annual Ag Appreciation Dinner was, like Nigel Thornberry would say, smashing! We appreciate everyone that came out for a fun free evening of agricultural comradery back on March 14th. We of the ROCIA want to thank everyone involved in preparing the evening. Congratulations to Kate Fridolph (Emerging Leader in Ag Award), Steve and Linda Dolch (Farm Family of the Year Award), Leo Smith (Service to Agriculture – Individual Award), and Southwest Iowa Tire (Service to Agriculture – Business Award). I also want to thank the Soil & Water Conservation District for partnering with us and recognizing John & Jill O’Neal as the Conservation Farm of the year. Ultimately, the evening wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for our generous sponsors like the Iowa Corn Growers Association of Mills & Montgomery County, AgriVision Equipment Group, Goranson Seed & Crop Specialist, and others for understanding that agriculture is the backbone of our community – and that every once in a while, we need to give our farmers an evening of free food and drink. And with that, the Red Oak Chamber and Industry Association wants to thank all our area farmers for everything you do.

Southwest Iowa Buy Local Expo

Thank you for everyone that attended the Southwest Iowa Buy Local Expo. The Saturday was absolutely beautiful and Inman Primary worked out great for being a temporary location for the Expo. Next year the Buy Local Expo will be moving back to the Red Oak High School, and we even anticipate being able to expand the event and our programming! With that said, we really appreciate the Red Oak Community School District for being flexible and allowing us to utilize their facilities to promote our business community of Southwest Iowa. We also want to thank Building Crafts, Inc., Great Western Bank, the Red Oak Express, and Rogers Plumbing & Heating for sponsoring this event, because if we didn’t have their support, this event wouldn’t have been possible. If you’re interested in participating at the Southwest Iowa Buy Local Expo next year, please contact the Red Oak Chamber and Industry Association and we’ll get you added to our mailing list.

Junction Days – 150 Years of Red Oak

Mark your calendars to be in Red Oak from Thursday, June 27th to Sunday, June 30th for Red Oak’s 41st Junction Days celebration. It’s going to be extra special this year because we’re celebrating 150 Years of Red Oak; aka Red Oak’s sesquicentennial! For more information about Junction Days events and registration forms, please visit www.redoakiowa.com. If you have questions, comments, or would like to sign-up to volunteer at Junction Days, please contact the ROCIA via phone, e-mail, or Facebook Messenger. And just like most events, it’s never possible without help from our sponsors like KCSI 95.3, Houghton State Bank, Fareway Stores, Inc., Building Crafts, Inc., Johnson Controls, US Bank and more. Let’s have some fun and celebrate 150 Years of Red Oak!
